On Tuesday evening at approximately five pm, Watertown Police responded to Hunt St in Watertown on a report of a suspicious male in a car attempting to lure young children that were playing in the yard. Officers discovered that a white male operating an older model Honda Civic or Accord, pulled up in front of a residence and opened the car door and began a conversation with the children, swinging a key ring on a string asking them if they had lost a necklace. The children ran into the house screaming and a parent then exited the house and confronted the operator. The operator stated to the parent that he was just trying to see if anyone lost a necklace. The male then held up a silver ring attached to a black shoe lace. The parent informed him that no one lost a ring and the male then closed his car door and drove off westbound on Hunt St and turned right onto Galen St.

The male is described as a white male, in his 60’s, wearing a long sleeve white shirt, khaki pants, skinny build, red complexion, blue eyes, possibly wearing glasses, gray hair combed to the side and yellowish colored teeth.

The vehicle was described as an older model gray Honda Civic or accord with an emblem/magnet of flag insignia on the rear trunk of the vehicle by the key hole.

The ring was described as a silver key ring that had the word “Diesel” inscribed on it attached to a black shoe lace.

Anyone having any information on this incident is asked to contact the Watertown Police Department at # 617-972-6500.

Prepared by Lt. Michael Lawn
Watertown Police Department

On Tuesday June 2, 2009, at 1108 hours, police responded to 990 Belmont St. on a report of a possible attempted abduction. The caller was a third party caller. The initial call was that a male in the area of the Watertown High School attempted to coerce a female student into his vehicle.
Because of the nature of the original report the police and school department conducted a complete and thorough investigation into this incident. The Watertown Police Department has concluded its investigation and found that the initial report of an attempted abduction was reported incorrectly. It was found that at no time was any student at risk of danger and no criminal activity had occurred.
