Storm Emergency Information 03-15-10

Monday, March 15th, 2010

The Watertown Emergency Management Agency has activated its emergency operations center. We are currently dealing with a number of storm related issues including flooding, street closures, basement flooding and traffic management. The town’s sewer system is currently at 100% capacity and the MWRA sewer system is exceeding 100% capacity.

• Please do not pump storm water from basements into the sewer system or sewer piping. Please pump directly into the street so the storm water can enter the storm system.

• Pleasant St at Howard St is flooded due to the Charles River overtopping its banking. Pleasant St is closed from Bridge Street to Myrtle Street, including Howard Street.

• North Beacon St at the Brighton line is closed to through traffic.

• Please be courteous and lookout for your neighbors and assist if necessary.

• Due to a high volume of pumping assistance we have established a list of properties waiting for service. To be placed on the list call 617-972-6500.

• If your basement is flooded please be cautious of your electric service.

• If you are displaced by flooding or by any other storm related issues, contact the Center for more information.
